A kilometer and a half from the sea of Alghero, from the southern part of Mount Palmavera is this ancient village. The first part of the Nuragic village Palmavera was discovered at the beginning of the last century by Taramelli, later in the 1960s excavations were resumed. The ancient inhabitants of Sardinia built a real village during the Bronze period. The nuraghe was built in several stages.
The central two-story tower is located inside a bastion that, in turn, is enclosed in a space bordered by three towers. All around the other huts of the inhabitants were built, it is assumed that there were more than a hundred dwellings. The most important construction is the Meeting Hut, which served as the home of the tribe leader. In this nuraghe there are many interesting finds such as wooden benches, fragments of ceramics and bronze bracelets.
Also nearby was discovered by Taramelli at the same time the necropolis of Anghelu Ruju, which bears the name of the owner of the land. In this ancient cemetery there are dozens of so-called Domus de Janas, the tombs of witches, some embellished inside with decorations. Both archaeological sites can be visited by paying the entrance ticket of a few euros.
